Geophysical Geodesy

is the study of precisely defining the shape, axis of rotation, and gravitational field of the Earth and studying its changes. Since the second half of the 20th century, with the help of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and satellite gravity exploration, geophysical geodesy has been remarkably developed. In particular, research on the relocation of the Earth system mass caused by climate change and the perennial change of the rotation axis is actively underway.

Based on geophysics, it is a multidisciplinary research field that requires a broad understanding of all fields of earth science such as oceanography, atmospheric science, geology, and astronomy.

Research on polar glacier changes, sea level rise, changes in the Earth's rotation axis, and crust displacement due to earthquakes are being conducted.
